Nothing feels better than making a tangible difference right in your own backyard. RVi’s Dallas office joined alongside 40 TREC Young Gun volunteers to begin what will be a series of renovation projects for the Genesis Women’s Shelter. This project entailed demolishing an old playground and prepping the site for a new playscape that will be installed in just a few weeks. This new play structure will provide a fun and safe environment for the children living in the shelter.

The Young Guns are the young professional faction of The Real Estate Council (TREC), comprised of motivated young adults with specialties in construction, development, architecture, brokerage, asset management, marketing, and more. This organization hosts a variety of networking events throughout the year and contributes a generous amount of time and finances towards philanthropic organizations. Our own Lisa Horne served as the Logistics Chair for the event and actively contributed to this project by organizing four teams of volunteers to prepare for the event and ensure that all ran smoothly.

The Genesis Women’s Shelter is a home that provides safety and support to battered women and their children. Additional projects for the shelter include interior remodeling updates throughout the kitchen,  computer room, and children’s play area. The remaining projects will be completed over the coming months through similarly organized volunteer days.
