RVi’s Director of Operations, Chris Lalich, is always seeking adventure. Among his many accomplishments is marathon running – an interest that has taken him all across the US and led him to start an RVi Austin Marathon training group.

Chris has had the good fortune to run marathons in Austin, Houston, San Diego, and above all, New York. About ten years ago, he was presented an opportunity for a spot in the coveted New York marathon through a sponsor’s reserved spot. Talking to him today about the experience still brings chill bumps to his arms. It is with this fervor that he has signed up for another race, and this time, brought a few friends.

Chris has successfully recruited nine employees from RVi’s offices and even one employee from our equity partner firm, Atwell, to join the training group. Chris, Drew Carman, Peter Dufrene, and Alan Mackey, as well as Donna Jakubowicz from Atwell’s Southfield, MI office have all signed up for either the full or half marathon. Other RVi employees who are following the training schedule just for fun include Patrick McGannon, Wes Gentry, and Aaron Christian in Austin, Jamie Hendrixson in Houston, and Doug Craig in Phoenix.

The 26.2-mile Austin Marathon is slated for February 2017, with courses winding through some of Austin’s most famous areas, including Lady Bird Lake, the Allandale & Hyde Park neighborhoods, the UT Campus, and the State Capitol.

The group’s training schedule began six months before race day – with short runs during the week and longer runs on weekends. This coming weekend they will run seven miles, the most miles they have tackled since training began.

We are currently planning a finishing party with coworkers to celebrate the group’s hard work over brunch following the marathon in February. Stay tuned to find out more about the training group’s accomplishments and race day activities!
