In recognition of his dedication and many contributions to RVi, we are happy to announce that Dennis Tonsor has been promoted to Director of Planning.
Dennis has continually demonstrated his ability to manage members of the RVi planning team while nurturing strong client relationships, and he has been instrumental in engaging with planning clients across the southwestern U.S. as an extension of our Scottsdale office. Dennis joins Gene Lukow and Peter Boecher who also share this role at RVi.
Dennis is a graduate of Kansas State University’s Landscape Architecture program and officially began his career with RVi in the Austin office in 2006, after a 1.5 year internship.
Since that time, Dennis has used his roots as a Missouri farm boy and his landscape architecture education to hone his planning skills on projects throughout Texas and the United States. He has worked on the charming Victory at Verrado in Buckeye, Arizona, where he was able to champion creative solutions for the Verrado Way alignment, ultimately showcasing the nearby Tiger Mountain and meaningfully integrating hike and bike systems. For the more recent Headwaters, a master planned community in Dripping Springs, Texas, Dennis has had the opportunity to see early planning concepts come to complete fruition. It was the collaboration at multiple levels of these projects, the commitment to preserving existing land, and the interface with a variety of team members that allowed Dennis to show the value his planning work could bring to these sites, and with great success. Headwaters opened to residents earlier this year and is currently entering the second phase of construction.
Dennis is also involved with ULI NEXT, a program aimed at engaging leaders in the 35-45 age range and providing educational and network-building opportunities for members as they rise to leadership positions within the industry. He is currently co-chairing one of the 2017 leadership classes with Janki DePalma of DCI Engineers.
Dennis has been married to his wife, Charlotte, for 10 years next April and has two children, Stella (7) and Hank (4). On the weekends, you can find the Tonsor family exploring the state of Texas in their RV. They are on a mission to visit the more than 90 state parks Texas has to offer – with a broader goal of constant outdoor adventure.
