Town of Westlake Entrances

Completing Three Major Entrances into the Town of Westlake

When IH 114 was extended northwestward along the edge of Westlake, the town commissioned our firm to provide three major entrances into this rural community. One of the standard bridges was already complete, the second was in the Construction Document phase of design, and the third bridge was just beginning Schematic Design documentation. In order to achieve a bold statement for the Town, it was recommended that all three bridges be enhanced to provide distinctive, highly visible entrances into the community. We worked with TXDOT in providing new special bridge rails, special sidewalk and street paving, stone planters faced with the town name, and a soft base for specimen gateway trees. Bridge columns and underside double T beams were painted dark brown to visually provide a thinner appearing bridge from the freeway.
