Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) celebrated its fortieth anniversary with the dedication of its new corporate headquarters at Mueller, Austin. The three-story building, designed by Austin architecture firm Studio 8, with design and construction management by Benz Resource Group, is a synthesis of natural light and regional stone. Warm limestone in rough and sawn textures, honey-colored bamboo and clean metal details create an open interior space of beauty and intimacy.
RVi's graphic design team designed environmental graphics and wayfinding signs that convey SEDL's mission "to solve significant problems facing education systems," while embracing the architectural qualities of the building. RVi congratulates SEDL on 40 years and a beautiful new center for educational excellence.
In 2005, RVi began planning a new vision for 4,217 acres of the Sonoran Desert, just south of Tucson. The new desert community, owned by an affiliate of American Nevada Company, is the largest community being planned near the Town of Sahuarita.
With an emphasis on sustainability, the community provides over 1,000 acres of open space corridors, preserving native plants and allowing the continued movement of local wildlife within and through the community. The open space corridors also serve residents, creating an extensive trail network that allows homeowners to experience nature and access community amenities - including four community parks, one district park, two school campuses, commercial areas and neighbors.
RVi rang in the second quarter of 2008, by welcoming a new member to its team. Chris Patterson joined our Houston office as Project Director and Houston Office Manager. Chris returns to Houston after a three year stint in Dallas and brings eleven years of experience in the Houston Planning Department and design firms in Houston and Dallas. "It's great to be back home. I'm really excited about the opportunities ahead and what RVi brings to the Houston market. With its steady growth and strong economy, I believe Houston is the ideal place to expand our capabilities," says Chris.
