Over the past fifteen years, RVi has had the honor of providing landscape architecture and planning services for state and national veterans cemeteries across the state of Texas. In 2016, we joined a team led by prime consultant William H. Gordon Associates (Chantilly, Virginia), to pursue an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity RFP issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The team also includes The LA Group, Kovach Design Solutions, The Onyx Group Architects, Miller-Remick, Modjeski and Masters, ECS, Davidson Brown, MBP, and GIS Inc.
The award of this IDIQ contract to our team in 2017 has propelled our veterans cemetery practice well beyond Texas, with new projects throughout the United States. Since being selected, our team has received task orders for cemetery expansions at the South Florida National Cemetery (Lake Worth, FL) and at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh, PA), with more opportunities forthcoming. At the South Florida National Cemetery, we are providing landscape architecture and cemetery planning services for a project that includes 21,750 new gravesites, 6,000 new columbarium niches, memorial walls, and general upgrades throughout the cemetery. This project is somewhat unique for the VA because it is being delivered as a Design/Build project in order to accelerate design and construction. Our work on the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Pennsylvania is just getting underway.
RVi is proud to have the opportunity to work in service of America’s veterans and their loved ones, and we are excited that this work is taking us to new and interesting places across the U.S. To read more about our approach to veterans cemetery design, take a look at this article we published on the subject last year.
