The La Cima development, a premier residential community in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is currently wrapping up design and making plans for summer construction. The 2,441-acre neighborhood is located just west of San Marcos, Texas, at the intersection of Wonderworld Drive and Old Ranch Road 12 and boasts “…an oasis of Hill Country living with over 800 acres of open space and parkland.” Over 13 miles of trails have been built into the community’s landscape with convenient access to regional trails just outside of the development’s borders. La Cima features community gardens, recreational fields, and a 45-acre Central Park area where residents can come together for gatherings, events, and open play. The development team envisions that this space will also be used for future farmer’s markets, birthday parties, and neighborhood get-togethers – with the overarching goal of bringing nature into the daily lives of residents and supporting La Cima’s values of home, heart, and Hill Country. La Cima expects approximately 2,200 single-family homes to line its streets, attracting residents with various lot sizes, a vast adjoining Habitat Conservation Preserve, and an unparalleled amount of open green space.
RVi has been involved with La Cima since its early stages of planning in 2013 and most recently designed its entryway and model park that features a splash pad, amphitheater, playscape, shade structures, and open play space (see images). Because La Cima means ‘the top,’ the landscape architecture design focused on creating high point landmarks throughout the community to reinforce a feeling of guiding towers and to punctuate way points. RVi’s design team has also used the following vision to guide the creation of open space and trail: “La Cima will be designed and developed in a manner that unifies the community through open space connectivity and experiences that put the resident on the trail to great living.”
Forbes’ prediction that San Marcos and the area along the I-35 corridor will become the “Next Great Metropolis” in America gives this community even more appeal among homebuyers. La Cima is positioning itself to be one of the most successful master planned communities in one of the fastest growing areas of our nation. RVi hopes to add to that growth through a design plan of land conservation and longevity and remains committed to seeing La Cima’s vision achieved.
