Earlier this month, RVi was awarded the Gilleland Creek Greenway Improvements, Section 1 project by Travis County. Utilizing voter approved funding from the 2017 bond election, the project entails design through construction documentation of the first section a new 19-mile greenway connecting Pflugerville’s Northeast Metro Park to the Colorado River along Gilleland Creek. For Section 1 specifically, the project will link Northeast Metro Park towards Ben E. Fisher Park via a 15-foot wide concrete hike and bike trail. At RVi, we are passionate about park and trail design and are excited to be working with Travis County on this greenway project!

The Gilleland Creek Greenway project not only provides a tremendous opportunity to capture, improve, and preserve a precious natural resource for the future, but will also enhance education, stewardship, and recreational opportunities for a currently underserved portion of Central Texas. Team members include Pape-Dawson (civil engineering), Structures (structural engineering), Hicks & Company (environmental engineering), Doucet & Associates (stream engineering), and Altura Solutions (ADA compliance). Together with our team, we look forward to designing a creative, contextually sensitive design that is engineered to withstand flooding events and is respectful of the area’s delicate natural surroundings. Stay tuned for what we have in store for the future of the Gilleland Creek Greenway and Central Texas.
