After almost a year-long delay due to the pandemic, Southstar Communities’ VIDA development is on its way. Located in South San Antonio on the doorstep of Texas A&M University-San Antonio, VIDA’s first phase of development officially broke ground earlier this year. Phase One development of the 600-acre mixed-use, master planned community includes single-family homes, apartment complexes, commercial space, and almost 40 acres of greenways, trails, and open space including the town center we’re calling the Zócalo.

Inspired by the lively culture of San Antonio, RVi’s design not only brings people together but also fosters physical and social energy. Vibrant colors and modern lines are on full display, integrating a variety of local materials and plant palettes. At full build-out the project core will feature a chain of parks and trails that connect to the Texas A&M-San Antonio campus as well as the greater San Antonio Greenway Trails system. Pocket parks will also provide a variety of active and passive experiences from open lawns and nature-inspired playscapes, to food truck picnic parks, fire pits, and hammock gardens. With plenty of sidewalks, trails, greenways, and parks connecting the community with the University area, VIDA was planned with walkers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts in mind.
