Kelly Uhrich, Landscape Designer at RVi in Tempe, Arizona, has just completed the Landscape Architecture Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.). Congratulations to Kelly!

The L.A.R.E. is an examination that includes four sections: Project and Construction Management, Inventory and Analysis, Design, Grading and Drainage and Construction Documentation. It determines whether a candidate has adequate knowledge, abilities and skills to provide landscape architecture to meet public health and safety standards.

Kelly recognizes that obtaining this licensure would open doors and provide career advancement. Preparation can be challenging, though, and managing study time with a work schedule was not easy. “I’d typically study a couple hours each day, four to five days a week for about a month leading up to the exam. There are several recommended textbooks for each exam, along with practice tests and online study guides. It is easy to get overwhelmed with all the material available. After I registered for a section, I would start planning my study strategy, and that helped me a lot,” explains Kelly. Work mentors also helped Kelly to focus, providing encouragement and help with studying. “I have learned that if you have the drive and ambition to grow, no one at RVi will hold you back, they will only ask what they can do to help you achieve your goals.”

Kelly understands that “having the title of a licensed landscape architect can bring a level of understanding in our industry, showing that you have worked hard to get to where you are and have gone that extra mile to become licensed.” With plans to become a Project Manager and continue to earn additional licenses and certifications, we are proud that Kelly is a part of the RVi Team!
