This past weekend, the Kissing Tree community officially opened its doors for the first time with A Taste of Kissing Tree, an exclusive first look at Central Texas’ newest Active Adult community.  Visitors enjoyed live music, health and wellness activities, food trucks, beer tastings, and the opportunity to tour eight model homes.

Located in San Marcos on the edge of the rolling Texas Hill Country, Kissing Tree gets its name from a tall Texas tale dating back to the days of Sam Houston.  In July 1857, Houston was said to have given a spirited speech under the shade of an enormous Live Oak tree along the banks of the San Marcos River.  Houston was given a war hero’s reception at the event and was so moved by the community’s generosity that he is said to have given each of the women a kiss on the cheek.  In this spirit of independence and whimsy, the Kissing Tree community was born.

With a focus on health and wellbeing, exploration of the arts, and a touch of foodie culture, Kissing Tree has been meticulously built by developer Brookfield Residential to appeal to the 55+ age demographic.  Amenities include an indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, 18-hole golf and 18-hole putting course, biergarten, community kitchen, amphitheater, dog park, and loads of activities including bocce ball, horseshoe pits, billiards, giant Jenga, corn hole, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and community fire pits.  RVi is proud to be providing planning and landscape architecture services for Kissing Tree.
