Bidii Baby Foods envisioned a long-term home for its growing Navajo-owned baby food operation in rural Arizona. Working closely with the family and project partners, RVi developed a comprehensive master plan designed to support onsite food processing, agricultural expansion, long-term business growth, and future multigenerational living on the property, all while remaining grounded in cultural traditions and values that inspired the indigenous baby food business.

GOALS

The husband-and-wife owners of Bidii Baby Foods founded the company with the mission to connect children to the land through traditional foods that foster attachment, belonging, and lifelong health. Their products incorporate traditional ingredients, including corn grown using regenerative and organic agricultural methods.

As the business continues to grow, the family sought to keep the entire product lifecycle onsite—from planting and harvesting to processing and distribution—within a property that would also serve as a homestead for future generations. Our goal was to help translate that vision into a thoughtful, implementable master plan capable of guiding future development.

OUTCOMES

The conceptual master plan for the Bidii Baby Foods compound is an easy-to-understand roadmap for the future. RVi helped to integrate existing infrastructure and natural features—including a food hub building, livestock pens, irrigation risers, canals, and orchards—with sprawling new agricultural, residential, and cultural facilities to support the thriving business.

Among the planned expansions are new orchards and grapevines, melon and squash fields, large corn fields, and a future dam for crop irrigation from stormwater. The site plan also includes new access roads, holding ponds, and drainage areas, as well as preserved natural areas to serve as a buffer between production, the natural environment, and neighbors. Adjacent to the West Growing Field is a future pollinator garden with bee habitats, extending from an existing orchard with planned expansions. Near the existing food hub and processing facility is siting for future green houses, as well as steam pits as a traditional corn processing method.

A family home is planned at the southwestern end of the site, which will accommodate the family-owners and their children for generations to come. Just east of the home is a planned traditional Navajo homestead, including a hogan reflective of the family and business’s cultural heritage.

Together, the master plan creates more than a functional agricultural compound. It establishes a place where food production, cultural heritage, family life, and stewardship of the land are interconnected—supporting a
