Outdoor Spaces for a Family-Centric Community
In 2003, RVi was retained to plan and facilitate a parks design workshop and to develop site plans for each of the five parks in Buda’s park system. Since the workshop, RVi has gone on to develop a close relationship with the City and its Parks Department, assisting with grant funding applications and designing two of the five parks that were planned during the workshop.
Buda Historic Stagecoach Park
Stagecoach Park was designed to provide an appropriate setting for Buda’s original stagecoach stop (ca. 1876) and to provide much-needed recreational facilities for this rapidly growing town. Located on a beautiful site overlooking Onion Creek, the park contains a 2-mile trail system, fishing pond, xeriscape and wetland interpretive gardens, a rustic amphitheater, and a Scout camping area. A welcome center is planned for the Stagecoach House when restoration is complete.
This 68-acre park facility is located on Buda’s west side and was designed in conjunction with a new YMCA. The park accommodates regional competitive sports, including softball and soccer fields and associated concession areas. Additionally, the park features areas for passive recreation that were developed to take advantage of the creek that runs through the site. These areas include a hike-and-bike trail system, group pavilion for picnics, pond, fishing pier, and an interpretive trail for the wetlands areas.
