Chase Tower Plaza Redevelopment

The redevelopment of this major plaza over a parking garage provides a pleasant urban forecourt to the high profile Chase Tower.

The project team was brought on board to redesign this urban plaza and solve a myriad of existing technical issues, including moisture problems, leaking fountains, and a high maintenance landscape. The renovated plaza now provides additional seating areas that are framed with shaded groves of River Birch. These plantings are raised up on undulating serpentine walls that are organized concentrically, defining the plaza’s edge. Because the plaza is constructed over the parking garage, foam blocks were used as lightweight berm materials to decrease the structural load on the garage.
