Situated on the former Proving Grounds in Mesa, Arizona, Eastmark transforms 3,200 desert acres into a sustainable, park-centric community where equity, connectivity, and ecology intersect with everyday life and set a new benchmark for master planned communities in the Phoenix Valley.

GOALS

RVi envisioned Eastmark as an ecosystem where people could truly belong at every stage of life, in a place where diversity of housing types and affordability invite longevity, sustainability, and multigenerational community. Balance, sustainability, and inclusivity were guiding principles for homes, retail, schools, and a forward-looking tech campus, all connected through trails and lush park systems. The intent was simple, yet profound, in creating a community with intuitive connections where nature was rejuvenated and reclaimed from a former GM Desert Proving Grounds into a native Sonoran Desert landscape.

OUTCOMES

Eastmark now stands as one of the Phoenix Valley’s most successful models for sustainable growth and equitable master-planning. Its mix of housing, from multi-family to varied-density neighborhoods, active adult living, and gated enclaves, supports a diverse social fabric and lifelong residency. Unified identity and aesthetics strengthen the shared sense of place, where home is more than just a dwelling.

At the heart of the community, residents have direct access to the 90-acre Great Park, where a broad range of recreational amenities support health and wellness—from disc golf to dog parks, playfields, a skate park, and Inspirian Peak, where a man-made mountain offers scenic distant views to the Superstition Mountain. RVi designed roadway systems to filter traffic organically to parks that serve as extensions of front yards, encouraging daily connection and community interaction.

At Eastmark, every amenity is planned with intention. An integrated tech campus, along with retail and mixed-use districts, contribute to economic vitality and offer places to gather, shop, and make memories.

Built on the former GM Desert Proving Ground, Eastmark underwent a transformative environmental restoration. RVi introduced native flora, tree plantings, and innovative irrigation systems to reconnect naturally with the local Sonoran Desert ecosystem. The restoration also enabled an organic working farm and more than 75 neighborhood parks, transforming a damaged landscape into a thriving, connected community approaching its final phase of development.
