Jacob’s Well Master Plan
A Balance Between Development and Environmental Stewardship
Jacob’s Well is an artesian spring feeding Cypress Creek from an extensive underground cave network. To protect this precious resource, most of the site is governed by conservation easements. The goal of the project is to provide an open space amenity for the County, while educating visitors about the local ecology and landscape.
RVi’s proposed plan includes landscape restoration, trails, and a Stewardship Center that incorporates rain bladders, solar panels, and a green roof to minimize disturbance on the site. The Stewardship Center is connected to an open-air pavilion by a “History Walk” that explains the history of the site. The story comes alive in the adjacent edible gardens and “midden pit,” while nature trails and interpretive sites are geared towards environmental education.
