La Cima
A community focused on home, heart, and Hill Country at every turn.
As part of the Fort Collins Downtown Strategic Plan, the City identified an opportunity to transform the alleyways into exciting, pedestrian connections that bring together areas spanning from Colorado State University through the River District.
GOALS
Working closely with the developer, RVi sought to craft a master plan that brings nature into residents’ daily lives and embraces the local character of San Marcos and Hill Country, while encouraging the slogan of “live, work, and play in nature.”
OUTCOMES
Located just west of San Marcos, the La Cima community’s landscape features more than 800 acres of open space and park land linked by 13+ miles of trails, while offering convenient access to regional trails just outside of the development’s borders.
La Cima features nature-centric amenities including community gardens, recreational fields, and a new amenity center as a central hub for activity. The amenity center features an activity room, gathering space, a fitness roomo, quiet pool with lap jets, a separate family pool, yoga lawn, and spectacular views of Hill Country. The area surrounding the amenity center holds unique playscapes, community gardens, recreation fields, and abundant nature to explore across a 45-acre Central Park area.
RVi has been involved with La Cima at every stage, from early planning in 2013, to extensive landspace architecture design throughout the community. This includes the defining entryway and model park, featuring a splash pad, amphitheater, playscape, and shade structures. “La cima” translates to “the top,” and we made sure to design high point landmarks throughout the community, reinforcing a sense of place with guiding towers and punctuated wayfinding.
