Purposefully woven into the Hill Country landscape, Longhorn Village spans 56 acres and 214 residences, uniting continuing care, resident experience, and sustainable design, earning a Three-Star Austin Energy Green Building designation.
GOALS
The goal at Longhorn Village was to seamlessly integrate a service-oriented, Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) within the Steiner Ranch master-planned community. In association with the University of Texas at Austin’s Ex-Student Association, RVi sought to elevate defining characteristics of the scenic Texas Hill Country while crafting an easy-to-navigate sequence of active adult amenities and on-site healthcare services catering to varying needs of care.
OUTCOMES
The result is a retirement community campus unlike any other. Nestled in the Hill Country, Longhorn Village offers sweeping, scenic views amidst a vibrant range of outdoor experiences. Varied options for housing, recreation, and on-site care give residents a customized experience and the opportunity to transition elegantly through stages of life.
Tailoring the experience to active adult and continuing care retirement lifestyles, the RVi team leveraged unique site characteristics to amplify placemaking and balance context-specific amenities with environmental enhancement. With every detail carefully considered from the residents’ point-of-view, the RVi team assessed multiple site planning options to ensure environmental preservation that supported resident experience. Magnificently preserved existing oaks and distant views enrich the local landscape with a sense of timeless resiliency.
An artfully crafted entry sequence showcases a distinguished campus identity. Intuitive circulation and wayfinding strategies usher residents through safe and pleasant trails dotted with intimate courtyards and shaded seating areas. Walkways lined with native plantings and curated landscaping elements add to the aesthetic composition that unifies the community.
The curated experience for residents reflects a tireless commitment to the communities we serve. With a harmonious sanctuary tucked into a broader master-planned community, life at Longhorn Village is shaped by nature, strengthened by community, and enriched by thoughtful design.
