Paducah Athletic Complex reimagines historic sites into a regional sports hub with fields, a clubhouse, and gathering spaces.
The Paducah Athletic Complex transforms the former Bluegrass Downs horse track and historic Stuart Nelson Park into a premier regional sports destination for baseball, softball, and soccer. The development features six high school baseball fields, two softball fields, and six multi-use fields, alongside a clubhouse with stadium seating, a restaurant, gathering spaces, and equipment stores.
Dugouts, restrooms, and maintenance buildings echo the site’s original horse stable architecture. Amenities include batting cages, shade structures, an interactive plaza and fountain, play areas, parking, and landscaping. Stuart Nelson Park will become a multi-purpose field complex, honoring the legacy of Dr. William Stuart Nelson with a central plaza for cultural events such as Juneteenth. A wetland restoration in the northeast corner manages stormwater while providing a naturalized recreation area for the community.
