Parmer Lane Sustainable Roadway
Recommendations for Travis County's Long-Range Transportation Plan
As an integral element of Travis County’s long-range transportation plan, this 1.5-mile extension of Parmer Lane in northeast Travis County is intended to connect US 290 and SH 130 and serve as the principal arterial access to the proposed Wildhorse Ranch community. Due to the region’s extended severe drought and desire to conserve roadway maintenance resources, sustainability and context sensitivity were deemed important design criteria for the project.
RVi consulted with the transportation engineering team to provide recommendations for sustainable and low impact development (LID) practices that would ensure that the project was well-integrated into the community, would mitigate potential negative aesthetic impacts of the roadway, and maximize the facility’s long-term durability.
