The Outlook at Glittering Mountain
Blazing a New Trail for the Navajo Nation
The Outlook at Glittering Mountain is envisioned as a new regional entertainment destination just outside of Flagstaff and adjacent to the Twin Arrows Casino and Resort. The mixed-use project will include shops, restaurants, and unique family-oriented entertainment venues. The first component of the project is a large entertainment center with movie theater, bowling center, laser tag, arcade, billiards, and a sports grill.
The project honors the rich heritage of the Navajo Nation in a variety of ways. The name Glittering Mountain refers to the Navajo creation story, which features the Glittering or White World. The hogan, or traditional dwelling of the Navajo, provided inspiration for detailing the entry paving pattern and corten steel planters in the landscape.
The Outlook at Glittering Mountain is located in Coconino County, an area well known for its commitment to sustainable design. It was designed with an innovative rainwater harvesting system, which captures rainwater from the 70,000 s.f. roof and stores it in a 40,000 gallon cistern located below the facility’s parking lot. RVi worked with Allen Environmental on the cistern design in order to ensure appropriate capacity to accommodate the watering needs of the plant materials planned for the site.
