State-of-the-Art Teaching Environment Anchors Austin's Innovation District
RVi is working as the local landscape architect under prime firm Sasaki Associates on UT Austin’s new Medical District. The site is bounded by Interstate 35, Trinity Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and 15th Street in Downtown Austin. The project is being delivered on an extremely aggressive schedule, with a goal of admitting the first class of medical students in 2016. RVi’s role has included consulting and guidance on the ecological restoration of Waller Creek and the surrounding native landscape, tree relocation, temporary and permanent irrigation, as well as innovative water harvesting strategies. The project is targeting several sustainability initiatives, including LEED, Sustainable Sites, and SECO.
