In recognition of their hard work and dedication, it is with great pleasure we announce the promotions of Mark Smith to Managing Principal, and Drew Carman to Director of Park Planning & Design!

Mark has over 40 years of experience – 19 of those with RVi – and has been an integral part of RVi throughout his tenure. A lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast region of the United States, Mark understands the subtle nuances of southern living and design. He has worked with design offices in New Orleans, Atlanta, and Austin, and has practiced in over 30 states as well as internationally in Canada and the Caribbean, making his knowledge base and expertise one of a kind. Some of Mark’s notable projects include Kissing Tree, Mueller, Travisso, the Scott & White Healing Garden in Round Rock, Texas, and multiple phases for the Houston National Cemetery.

Drew has been with RVi for the past six years and has continually demonstrated his ability to manage numerous city, county, and statewide park projects while nurturing strong client relationships. He has worked on many projects across Central Texas including the Brushy Creek Regional Trail, Gilleland Creek Greenway, San Gabriel Park, Jacob’s Well Trail, McKinney Roughs Equestrian Campground, and Camp Creek Park Master Plan. Before joining RVi, Drew was one of the lead planners for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. With a career-long focus on park, trail, and open space design, Drew is the perfect fit to lead our parks practice into the future.

Together, we are excited to build upon RVi’s strong foundation in Central Texas and continue the firm’s 39-year legacy as a premier local and national planning and landscape architecture firm.
